Martha Johnson

Martha Johnson is a former nurse and a self-taught collage artist. She draws inspiration from the natural world around her and from the words of many authors, and is always intrigued with color and texture. Her collages are predominately composed of paper but also include fabric, dried plant materials, paints, photographs, stamps, and found objects. She finishes her smaller works with an inspirational or humorous quote. She feels lucky and grateful to have work that she thoroughly enjoys.

Martha shows her work in art festivals from Pennsylvania to Georgia and in various regional and national galleries. She recently moved from the Outer Banks to the mountains of NC. So now, like most folks, she just tries to visit the Outer Banks every chance she gets! While she enjoys her big garden and mountain vistas now, she misses the sea, and the KDH Cooperative community, both of which are gems in her life.
